Reclaim your yard. We grind stumps below ground level for a clean, finished look.
That leftover stump from a tree removal might look harmless, but it causes more problems than most homeowners realize:
Stump grinding uses a powerful machine with a rotating cutting wheel to shred the stump into wood chips, typically 6–12 inches below ground level. Unlike full stump removal (which requires excavating the entire root ball — expensive and disruptive), grinding is fast, affordable, and leaves you with a flat, plantable area within a few hours.
After grinding, we leave the wood chips on-site for you to use as mulch, or we can haul them away. The remaining hole can be filled with topsoil and seeded, sodded, or landscaped however you'd like.
Stump grinding cost is typically based on the diameter of the stump (measured at ground level) and accessibility. Larger stumps and stumps in tight or sloped locations take longer and cost more. We provide free written estimates and can usually quote multiple stumps as a package for additional savings.
Standard grinding addresses the visible stump and the root flare immediately around it. The deeper root system is left in place to decompose naturally over the next few years. If you're planning to plant a new tree in the same exact spot or pour concrete, we can discuss deeper grinding or partial root removal options during your estimate.
